Emmerdale’s Lucy Pargeter talks Chas Dingle’s complex love life!
Chas Dingle hasn’t traditionally been the luckiest person in the world when it comes to choosing men…
The last man she was seriously involved with was of course Carl King (Tom Lister) but on their wedding day, Chas ditched him at the altar having discovered he’d had an affair with Eve Jensen (Suzanne Shaw).
Since then, Chas has dated factory boss Nikhil Sharma (Rik Makarem) but it was all one sided since he was smitten with her, and she was only in it for the expensive gifts. Nikhil is now of course dating Chas’s sister, Gennie (Sian Reece Williams).
And as fans will know, in forthcoming episodes, Chas is going to embark on a doomed romance with John Barton (James Thornton). ‘Doomed’ because he’s going to be killed in car crash soon of course. However, while speaking to the Daily Record, Lucy has revealed that she believes Carl will always be ‘the one’ for Chas.
She said, “I hope Chas and Carl get back together. There’s a lot of unfinished business there.”
But Lucy conceded that Chas’s ongoing feelings for Carl may have something to do with the distinct lack of eligible men in the village.
She said, “There’s not much to choose from in the village that’s available, single, still walking or has his own teeth…
“It would be nice if they just brought in anything.
“Personally I’d like the actor Tom Hardy, who was in Bronson and Warrior. That would be very nice. He’d make a good farmer.”
But getting back to Chas’s love life, while speaking to ITV about her character’s failure to find herself a fella, Lucy said, “Chas and men – where do you start, really?
“She hasn’t been very successful. She’s had a fair range, really. She’s gone from copper, to businessman – a bit of everything.”
And let’s not forget she also dated vet Paddy Kirk (Dominic Brunt) who ended up being just too darn nice for her to stay with long term.
Lucy – who’s also starred in Soldier, Soldier and Crossroads – went on, “Her ideal man is just somebody who can keep up with her, someone with a bit of a feisty side.
“I think she’s probably found him – but she’s definitely not still with him.
“I wouldn’t say Chas is unlucky in love, really – she’s misunderstood. She’s a hard one.
“I mean, who could go out with Chas and be able to deal with her?
“You don’t know if she’s going to slap you or kiss you. Fingers crossed she’ll find someone soon.
“There’s going to be quite a few things possibly man-stroke-men [related] coming up this year. It should be a lot of fun. And more turmoil!”

Now he’s getting close to Chas is it a distraction or something more?
John thinks a fling with Chas will help him get ovet his marriage, put it behind him and move on. However, all the time he’s with Chas. He is thinking about Moira
But instead of telling Moira, he tells Chas, why do that?
He slip ups there, really! He just finds himself confiding in Chas first, he shouldn’t have done. The kids interrupt him, because they have already found out what’s going on from Chas. Moira discovers that John went to Chas before speaking to her about it.
However, even though his determined to move on, John can’t take his relationship with Chas further, can he? what happens between them?
He invites Chas to the farm for a drink- one thing leads to another and they end up in the bedroom. They’re kissing and suddenly John breaks it off and says he can’t do this. So he ends things with Chas. Moira finds out nothing happended with Chas.

’Emmerdale’ Chas, Carl should reunite, says Lucy Pargeter
Emmerdale star Lucy Pargeter has revealed that she is eager for a Chas and Carl reunion storyline.
Chas split from Carl (Tom Lister) in 2010 after discovering that he had been unfaithful, but not before tricking him into a wedding and dumping him at the altar.
Pargeter, who first appeared as Chas in 2002, has now told the Daily Record that she believes there is still mileage in the pairing.
“I hope Chas and Carl get back together. There’s a lot of unfinished business there,” she commented.
The actress also joked that Emmerdale bosses need to bring in some handsome newcomers for Chas to flirt with.
